Amy-Lee & Morgan

Real Weddings · 9 March 2024 · Where it all began: the first wedding at Greenfield Acres

Before Greenfield Acres was a wedding venue, it was Morgan's family home, where he grew up, and where we chose to get married.

Ours was a relaxed, styled garden wedding in black and white. We said I do under the gums in the Main Garden, then celebrated in a clear marquee looking out over the paddocks.

The day landed in a heatwave, 43 degrees, so our plan to do photos before the ceremony went out the window. Instead we headed out once we were married and the sun was dropping: to the Bridge & Lake, the back garden lawns, the track by the horse paddocks, the London plane driveway, the lookout over the flats and the Turf Paddocks. Without meaning to, we showed off just about every corner of the property.

Getting ready

Black, white and a lot of laughs

We chose to spend the morning together with our whole bridal party: no secret first look, just music, bubbles and a lot of laughing before heading out to the gums.

The set-up

A garden under the gums

White chairs, wine barrels and black-and-white florals under the gums, with the clear marquee waiting on the lawn for later. A bonus if your day lands on a scorcher: with all the shade, trees and lawn, it is generally a few degrees cooler down here.

The ceremony

Our celebrant was a surprise to everyone. Chloe, Morgan's sister, was one of our bridesmaids, and none of our guests knew she was also going to marry us. It was the very first wedding she ever did. She has since switched careers, celebrates full time and has now officiated over 120 weddings. After the vows, our guests sent us back up the aisle under a cloud of petals before drinks on the lawn.

Golden hour

Every corner of the property

Once the heat eased, we wandered the whole farm with Benny: over the bridge and lake, along the red-dirt track by the horse paddocks at sunset, down the London plane driveway, out to the lookout over the flats and onto the turf paddocks. The horses came over to say hello too.

Sharing it with you

Why we love what we do

Since then it has been so special sharing Greenfield Acres with other couples.

One of our favourite things is seeing their just-married moments captured, because everyone is just so happy. We also love seeing the property through other people's eyes: every photographer surprises us by finding a new little gem of a corner.

Hosting our own wedding taught us a lot, and now we love helping couples set up and find the spot that works for them. We are not wedding planners (not yet, anyway!), but we are always happy to help with questions and ideas around layout.
